In Japan, Daruma dolls are iconic symbols of perseverance and goal-setting. The tradition is simple yet powerful: you paint in the left eye when setting a target, work relentlessly toward it, and paint the second eye once you’ve achieved your goal. Such a tangible reminder of the famous Japanese proverb: “Fall seven times, stand up eight.”
That same spirit fuels The Fourth Wish, an exclusive collaboration between Space Roastery and Barista Map Coffee Roasters. Shinsaku-san flew all the way from Japan to Indonesia to make this vision happen. Together, we curated four distinct coffees reflecting both of our personalities. Shin-san chose his personal favorites, and Space Roastery picked the perfect beans to round out and balance the selection.
We originally conceptualized this set as a strict, recipe-based guide for blending. But then we asked ourselves: where’s the fun in that? Coffee is meant to be an adventure, and there’s no wrong way to brew YOUR coffee.
