While the Catimor variety is often associated with lower-quality coffee due to its hybrid origins (a cross between Timor – a blend of Arabica and Robusta – and Caturra variety), Yunnan's Catimor stands out as a world-class exception. Grown at altitudes exceeding 1600 meters, this coffee benefits from the ideal conditions for flavour and sweetness development. Furthermore, Catimor's inherent resistance to pests and diseases and its higher yield makes it a valuable cultivar. Through meticulous agricultural practices and innovative processing techniques, Yunnan has elevated the Catimor cultivar to new heights of quality. This is evidenced by the 2022 Best of Yunnan Green Coffee Competition, where Catimor claimed 35 out of 36 finalist spots.
