Rwanda Red Caramel
Caramel, Red Tomato, Watermelon
Red Tomato? Yes, you heard it right. A lovely coffee, sugary, low-acid, and definitely refreshing.
Located nearly in the centre of Africa, Rwanda is a fertile, mountainous, and small yet densely populated country. Most of its 11 million people live in rural areas and rely on agriculture, mainly subsistence farming, for their livelihood. The Musasa Dukunde Kawa cooperative employs a precise coffee processing method.
Ripe cherries are hand-picked, pulped, fermented, and sorted by weight. The wet parchment is soaked and then sun-dried on extensive tables for approximately 14 days. After being sorted again for defects, it is covered to protect it from the elements. Once it reaches 11% humidity, the coffee is stored in parchment before being dry-milled and hand-sorted.
When your taste bud hits the cup, it will likely flood your senses with the lingering Caramel sweetness, silky texture of Red Tomato, and a hint of refreshing Watermelon followed by a slightly savoury finish. This coffee is a prime example of high-quality Rwandan coffee, known for its clean and delightful long sweetness.
