WHAT IS A FILTER BLEND?
It is not so easy to get the perfect cup of single-origin coffee. That is because each coffee with various origins and varieties has its own character, strengths, and weaknesses. We usually think that only single-origin coffee can be a truly exceptional specialty coffee. On the other hand, we often realize that something is missing in a cup of a single origin. We take Ethiopian coffee as an example, it usually gets higher scores for aroma, flavor, and sweetness. However, Ethiopian coffee is also known for its thin body. Therefore, roasters usually blend it with coffee from South America or Indonesia which is known for its full-bodied character. This is one of the reasons that initiates the creation of the filter blend. We think it could be better in quality and taste, more balanced cup, and complete sensory experience.
WHY IS IT CALLED THE FORBIDDEN FLOWER?
By many references, the Forbidden Flower refers to something widely used to help with medicinal or recreational purposes. Many say it gives a calm, relaxed feeling while giving energy. Just like this Forbidden Flower, that's how we say about this coffee. We enjoyed all of the fantasies in it. When we taste this coffee, it gives us such a sense of tranquility and happiness.
This coffee is a blend of Sakicha Purple Grape from Ethiopia and experimental coffee from Temanggung. Both of these coffees had super floral notes, and we were completely blown away because of the mixture of the two. What seemed like an impossibility became an amazing reality. By creating this blend, we're trying to celebrate and embrace the forbidden! We believe this coffee will complete the different experiences you've already got in the previous Forbidden series.
